Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be revealing the Redmi Note 3 variant in the Indian market soon.
“SHARE the AWESOME news that a new Redmi Note 3 is coming,” reads Xiaomi India’s Facebook wall.
After releasing a teaser on 13 January, 2016 on social media platforms that the company has some exciting news to share with fans on 14 January, 2016, the company has revealed today that Xiaomi is looking for 100 “explorers” for the Redmi Note 3 in India – users who will get to preview the smartphone before it launches.
The company has announced the ‘Redmi Note 3 Explorer Challenge’, saying, “Redmi Note 3 Explorers will be given a list of 100 missions to accomplish. Explorers will be ranked based on the number of successful missions and support from other Mi fans. All Explorers are required to return the phone after the challenge.”
The company also unveiled that “Engineers” will be able to “design extraordinary missions for Redmi Note 3 Explorers to complete. You’ll win a Mi Band for every approved mission.”
Interested consumers can register at the company’s official India website by January 31.
The Redmi Note 3, which was announced in November, was the company’s first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor and a full-metal body. Today, the company launched a different variant of the phone in China, with a couple of changes.
The variant revealed in China replaces the MediaTek Helio X10 chipset with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 with a 64-bit 1.8GHz hexa-core CPU, Adreno 510 GPU, integrated X8 LTE with Cat 7 speeds and support for VoLTE. The device is compatible with all mobile carriers in China and has 4G+ network support.
Also, the 13 megapixel camera on the back has been switched with the 16 megapixel rear camera with f2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus.
The rest of the specifications remain constant, with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM on the 16GB model and 3GB RAM on the 32GB model, and 4,050mAh battery. It measures 139.30 x 69.60 x 8.50 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 144.00 grams.
The 16GB model is priced at RMB 999 ($151). The 32GB variant’s pricing is to be announced later.
Details regarding its date of launch and price in India are still to be revealed.
