Panasonic has launched its new Eluga U2 smartphone in Taiwan. The phone is successor to Eluga U, it is priced at TWD 7,990. There is no word on the worldwide launch of the device.
The new device can be purchased from the Yahoo online store in Taiwan.
The Eluga U2 sports a 5 inch full HD IPS display with 720*1280 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Panasonic’s Fit Home UI out-of-the-box. The phone does not have dual SIM functionality like its predecessor Eluga U.
The new smartphone boasts a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with 16GB internal memory storage capacity, which can be expanded to 32GB via microSD card.
On the connectivity front the device has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ A-GPS. The handset measures 141.5x71x7.95mm, weighs 131 grams. The Eluga U2 is fuelled by a 2500mAh battery.
Panasonic has not made many upgrades to the latest Eluga U2. The new phone only has a better processor with a upgraded front facing camera than Eluga U.
The new Eluga U2 also comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop, unlike its predecessor and also offers 4G LTE connectivity.
The company has not confirmed the launch of the device in India, but it is most likely to launch as India is one of the important markets for Panasonic.
The company launched the previous version, Eluga U in July 2014. It was priced at Rs 18,990 in India. It had dual SIM functionalities.
