Micromax taps entry-level 3G users with Canvas Spark priced Rs 4999

Micromax has launched Canvas Spark, the latest 3G smartphone from the Indian smartphone maker, at a price of Rs 4,999.

The smartphone will be available exclusively on Snapdeal. Pre-booking starts at 12:00 noon on 22 April 2015.

Canvas Spark is the 4th in the series of new 3G launches from the company after the S300, D320 and Q324.

The launch of low-end 3G phones also reflects the company’s strategy to tap the growing Indian smartphone users who are turning to mobile Internet.

Currently only 2 million smartphones sold monthly are under Rs 5,000, as opposed to the 10 million feature phones under this price range. This provides huge opportunity for vendors like Micromax, which primarily targets the low-end users.

The deal with Snapdeal will further strengthen both companies’ market position in India as mobile is driving and will continue to drive the next wave of digital commerce growth in the country.
