There are several camera smartphones than ASUS ZenFone Zoom which is available at Rs 37,999 in India.

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen has unveiled ZenFone Zoom, the world’s thinnest 3X optical-zoom smartphone, at Agra, for the Indian smartphone buyers.

The ZenFone Zoom which was first introduced at the CES 2015, with its camera quality in limelight is priced at Rs 37,999 for the 128GB memory variant. It comes with a portable tripod and flash for Rs 39,999. The smartphone boasts of a 13MP PixelMaster camera with 3X optical zoom and a 10-element OYA lens arrangement claiming exceptional clarity and close-ups with up to 12X total magnification. It inculcates optical image stabilization (OIS) and is powered by a high-performance quad-core Intel Atom processor with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, and 16/32/64/128 GB options for internal storage.

The metal unibody device also contains DSLR-style shooting experiences and is thin at just 12mm and 5mm at the edges, weighing 85 grams. ZenFone Zone captures detailed Super Resolution shots of up to 52MP, devoid of noise and comes with laser auto-focus to point and shoot with total clarity in just 0.03 seconds.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom is a Zenfone 2 upgrade with a sharper camera for serious photographers. It comes with a 5.5-inch 920×1080 Full HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and has wide 178-degree viewing angles, a 403ppi pixel density, backed by a 2.5GHz Intel Atom processor Z3590. With a 10 element lens designed by Hoya and a SmartFSI  image sensor by Panasonic, it also sports a 5MP front-facing camera ideal for selfies.

The LTE Category 4+ phone enables download speeds up to 250Mbps, and a 60ms touch-response time, juiced by a high-capacity 3000mAh battery. It exclusively features ASUS BoostMaster technology for turbo-speed charging that can recharge the battery from zero to 60 percent in 39 minutes. The display uses ASUS TruVivid technology transforming the conventional four-layer design into an innovative two-layer construction with full lamination.

Is ZenFone Zoom the best camera phone?

The Asus ZenFone Zoom will be competing with photography oriented smartphones like LG G3, Lenovo Vibe Shot, Moto X Pure Edition, Nexus 6P, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and the Redmi Note 3.

The LG G3 also has a dual LED flash 13 MP camera with OIS and AFS is now available at as low as Rs 28,998 for the 128 GB variant with minimal noise and great quality pictures. The Lenovo Vibe Shot features a 16MP primary camera, infrared auto focus, 6 piece lens, optical image stabilization, a BSI sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera with its current market price of about Rs 24,500.
The Nexus 6P which is available for Rs 39,999 for the 64 GB model sports a camera of 12.3 MP with 1.55μm pixels, Google Camera App and Google Photos App.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a 16 MP front shooter with f/2.0, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, panorama etc. and is to be released in March in India for approximately Rs 10,200.
Moto X Pure Edition packs a 21 megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash and costs around $399.99, approximately Rs 27,000.

All in all, the Lenovo Vibe Shot and the LG G3 stand out in terms of camera specifications and are economical when compared to the Asus Zenfone Zoom. The user response and reviews to the Asus device will clarify the future of this camera-phone further.
