Don’t like selfies? This just might be the all-screen phone you were looking for

What will it take to make an all-screen phone? Just get rid of the front camera?

That’s what Vivo did with its latest Apex 2019. It’s a seamless all-screen phone with no buttons, headphone jack, front camera, ports or speaker grill. Though this phone may never hit the consumer market from the way it looks, Vivo is planning to showcase the device at the MWC 2019.

It’s similar to what Meizu did with the Zero – a phone with no buttons or ports, but the Apex 2019 lacks the front camera too.

The Apex 2019 is a 5G phone 12GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. From the concept pictures, we see that it sports a dual-camera setup on the back.

The whole display acts like a fingerprint scanner – you can put your finger almost anywhere on the screen – and the display works as the speaker too, like the Meizu Zero. The magnetic connector at the back of the phone functions as a charger and is used for data transfer, as there are no ports.

It’s the successor to Vivo’s Apex concept phone which had a ‘half-screen’ fingerprint scanner and a retracting front camera.

Would you give up the selfie camera to get a minimalistic full-screen phone?
