BlackBerry Priv running Android Lollipop gets a price tag


The Android based BlackBerry Priv’ price has been revealed by a UK based retailer Carphone Warehouse. The device is available for pre-order in UK at a price of GBP 579.99.

The new smartphone comes with a 5.4 inch QHD display and is powered by a hexa-core (1.8GHz dual core + 1.44GHz quad core) Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC alongside 3GB of RAM.

It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and sports an 18MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera. It has 32GB of internal storage capacity which is expandable up to 2TB using a microSD card.


The BlackBerry Priv is juiced by a 3410 mAh battery and also features a physical keyboard that slides out.

Last week, the company also released an official promo video of the privacy-focussed smartphone BlackBerry Priv.

The company has also published a blog post detailing some of the customisations it has done to make the Android experience on the BlackBerry Priv more secure and privacy-focussed.

The company will also enhance the BlackBerry 10 operating system 10.3.3 and will launch in March 2016 – focusing on security and privacy enhancements.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry said its revenue for the quarter ended August 29, 2015 fell to $490 million from $916 million in the same quarter previous year.

The revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 15 percent for software and services, 41 percent for hardware, and 43 percent for service access fees (SAF), BlackBerry said.
