Jio though initially limiting the offer to LYF branded phones from the company only, has recently announced extensions of similar preview offers with smartphones from Samsung, LG, Asus, and Panasonic, followed by Micromax and YU smartphones. As a part of the offer, these smartphone users get a free Jio SIM card and access to unlimited data, calls, text and the suite of apps from Jio like JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioMags, JioXpressNews, JioDrive, JioSecurity and JioMoney among others.

Also, the services can be availed with the JioFi device, tagged at Rs 2,899 and available at the Reliance Digital/Digital Xpress Mini stores. The device is capable to work as a WiFi hotspot for about 10 phones.

Though the launch date of the network from Reliance is still under wraps with expectations of being launched this year, the company still being in its beta-testing phase, its preview offers have already gained over 2.5 million users, which may disturb the growth of rivals, Vodafone and Airtel, in India.

Reliance currently owns pan-India 4G spectrum and once commercially launched, may create a transition in the telecom data market of India, cite experts.
