The Ultrafone 701HD, by Zen Mobile, is an attractive smartphone available at a price of Rs 11,999 at Launched in April 2013, this smartphone is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and has dual-SIM. GizmoLead’s device review correspondent Anand B shares his views on Zen Ultrafone 701HD.

In the box

  • Ultrafone 701HD
  • USB Data Cable
  • Travel Adapter
  • User Manual
  • Warranty Card
  • Extra flip cover and white cover
  • Headset

It easily fits in our hand, thanks to its curved body. Volume buttons are on its left side and the power button on its right. USB and headset slots are on the top. Three different back covers are available for this smartphone: White, black and a black-flip cover. It weighs 440gm but it gives a build-solid feel factor to mobile users. Ultrafone 701HD is available in Dual SIM (WCDMA + GSM) 3G + 2G with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Its display is 12.7cm (5’’) HD Display (720p).

User Interface

It is powered by MediaTek 6589 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It has 4GB (ROM) and 32GB expandable memory. Zen Ultrafone 701HD is provided with many pre-installed apps like Zen Store, Skype, Keep, etc. We tested Dead Space to check its performance. It worked smooth and fast. There are no hanging problems, thanks to its quad core processor. It is provided with all the four sensors: Accelerometer, Gyro Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Ambient Light Sensor.

Sound Quality

Due to its sound clarity, 2G calling has become easy. The gaming experience became more realistic with the headset provided in the box. During gaming, when volume was set to maximum (without headset), screeching sounds were heard. Headset is good for gaming but not for rock-songs.

Battery Life

The latest smartphone is fueled by a 2000 mAh (Li-ion) battery. It provides stand-by time upto 240 hrs and talk time upto 8 hrs. We charged the Ultrafone 701HD till it became 100 percent and started discharging till 10 percent. It worked a total 3.20 hrs.

This smartphone has 8MP Autofocus Camera with Flash, Digital Zoom, Playback option & BSI Sensor and also a 3.2MP Front Camera. An amazing feature of Ultrafone is that it takes beautiful 360° panoramas with its ‘Single Click 360° Panorama’ function.

Since the smartphone is available for Rs 11,999 in the Indian mobile market, we are not suggesting any areas for further improvement.
