Microsoft brings NokiaLumia 638 4G smartphone in India

Microsoft has launched the NokiaLumia 638 4G smartphone in India. The device will be selling at a price of Rs 8,299. It will be available for pre-booking from December 17 on

The NokiaLumia 638 is the most affordable 4G device available in the market. It will come bundled with an exclusive offer on Airtel 4G.

Lumia 638 consumers on Airtel Post-paid in Bengaluru will get up to 5 GB of free data on 4G for 2 months post activation of their Airtel SIM on the new Lumia 638. This offer will be available only until 31st March 2015.

The Lumia 638 runs on Windows Phone 8.1 and will be available exclusively on the newly launched Microsoft Brand Store.

The phone sports a 4.5 inch FWVGA display ClearBlack LCD display. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 backed by 1GB RAM.

The phone runs on Window 8.1 OS and including one swipe notifications from Action Centre, the new Microsoft Enterprise feature pack, Microsoft Office, OneDrive,  Camera, and HERE Maps and Drive+.

The smartphone boasts a 5MP rear camera and advanced imaging applications like Lumia Camera and Cinemagraph. The phone has 8GB internal memory storage with microSD card.

The Lumia 638 showcases a new matte polycarbonate design with changeable shells available in matte black and white.

Microsoft has also launched its Cortana digital assistant in France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Now users from these countries will be able to access an alpha version of Cortana.

Microsoft is rolling out an update to the Windows Phone Developer Preview program to which will enable additional languages for Cortana.

Cortana will also show European soccer data, and local “chit chat” jokes. Microsoft’s Cortana expansion follows just days after the company enabled some festive chit chat responses.
