Intex is the new #1 Indian smartphone maker in the country. This indicates Indian brands Micromax, Karbonn and Lava fell in the race.
In an advertisement in select media, Intex said the company has emerged as the #1 Indian brand in smartphone shipments in January 2015.
Intex has already become the #3 smartphone maker in October – December 2014 quarter as leading brands such as Apple and Micromax could not cash in on the fall of Samsung.
Smartphone market share reports from Counter Point Research and Cyber Media Research indicate that Intex is the third largest smartphone brand in India based on shipments in Q3 2014.
As per the latest Counterpoint Research report, Intex has posted 70 percent growth in October – December 2014 by shipping 1.7 million smartphones. Intex captured around 6.5 percent of the market share in Q4. Intex enjoyed a strong demand in sub $100 Smartphone segment especially for its Aqua 3G and Y Pro models.
Cyber Media Research earlier said the India mobile handsets market grew 4 percent to 257 million units in 2014. Device makers shipped 77 million smartphones, accounting for nearly 30 percent of all shipments. The smartphones segment grew 46 percent.
“With years of innovation, we have established Intex itself as a trusted name in the industry today. From April to Dec 2014, we have achieved sales of 10 million feature phones and 4 million Smart phones in India with aim of doubling the same,” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, business head, Mobiles, Intex Technologies.
Intex has a PAN-India presence through its network comprising of 29 stock and sales offices and over 800 service touch points.
The company has centre for Research and Development in India and China. Its distribution network comprises 1100+ distributors and 80,000+ dealers. Intex sells smartphones through more than 250 dedicated counters of hyper market chains and specialty stores, on TV shopping channels and e-commerce sites.
