BlackBerry has launched the Blackberry Passport, its new flagship smartphone. The device is priced at Rs 49,990 for the Indian customers.
The smartphone was announced a week ago and will be available in Indian market starting October 10.
Pre-booking for the BlackBerry Passport will begin on September 29 to October 10 on BlackBerry exclusive stores and Amazon.in. It will be made available on all leading retail stores also.
The BlackBerry Passport is targeted at productivity driven business professionals who want a smartphone that empowers them with the mobile tools they need to get things done, the company said.
The device sports a 4.5 inch IPS LCD, perfectly square display with 1440 x 1440 pixel resolution. BlackBerry claims this has been done deliberately so that professionals can edit their spreadsheets, emails and documents easily by reducing scrolling.
It has full QWERTY keyboard with a capacitive touch layer on the keys for performing gestures.
The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB RAM.
It comes with the new BlackBerry 10.3 OS onboard, which includes features as BlackBerry Assistant and a brand new BlackBerry Hub with Instant Actions. With BlackBerry 10.3, users also get access to the Amazon Appstore for Android and roughly 240,000 apps.
The device sports a 13MP rear OIS camera with BSI sensor and a 2MP front facing camera with a internal storage of 32GB which is expandable up to 128GB via Micro SD card.
It is juiced up by a 3450mAh battery, which claims to provide up to 30 hours of mixed usage battery life.

BlackBerry claims that its loud speaker is 18 per cent louder than the HTC One (M8) and 350 per cent louder than the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Consumers who will pre-book the smartphone at Amazon India will receive an Amazon gift card worth Rs. 5,000 and 5000 miles from Jet Airways.
