MediaTek unveils MT6739 chipset and new biosensor for smartphones

MediaTek, on January 30, unveiled a new chip MT6739 and the new biosensor named MT6381 targeting budget and mid-range smartphone.

The company has also hinted to bring 5G technology by early 2020.

The MT6739 chipset comes with face-detection capabilities.  Notably, the quad-core chip is the first one to offer dual 4G VoLTE support. According to the company, it is mainly built for budget and mid-range 4G smartphone devices and includes features to bring latest 4G LTE functions and large, beautiful phone designs to mainstream users.

The Taiwanese tech giant is looking to bring premium features like 18:9 aspect ratio display, face ID unlock and dual 4G VoLTE to already mentioned budget and mid-range devices. MediaTek General Manager (Wireless Communications BU) TL Lee said that the company is also working with Indian smartphone makers to design smartphone in the India. MediaTek is also working with Micromax to bring Google’s new Android Oreo (Go edition) smartphones.

Besides, the company has also showcased MT6381, the first 6-in-1 smartphone biosensor module. According to the company, the embedded module allows quick check-and-monitoring of physical wellness on the daily-habit device, the smartphone.
