Google Android Device Manager to help find your lost phone or erase data

Google on Friday said a new service — Android Device Manager — can ring your phone at maximum volume so you can find the lost phone (even if it’s been silenced), or locate it on a map, in real time.

If your phone can’t be recovered or has been stolen, Google’s Android Device Manager enables you to quickly and securely erase all data on your device to keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands.

The Android Device Manager will be available for devices running Android 2.2 and above, as part of Google Play.

The new handset protection solution will be available next month, said Adrian Ludwig, Android Security Engineer, in his blog.
