Foxconn ties up with Mozilla to develop budget tablets

Foxconn has tied up with Mozilla to develop tablets based on Firefox OS tablets.

The target is to develop budget tablets for developing countries utilizing Foxconn’s expertise in making budget tablets and Mozilla’s software Firefox OS.

Taiwan-based chipmaker VIA Technologies will be joining the project.

This partnership is aimed at offering hardware, software and application designers opportunities to develop Firefox OS-based products. Mozilla will provide operating system (OS), development guides and OS upgrades and maintenance, while Foxconn will provide its expertise in developing hardware platforms.
