BlackBerry Z3 smartphone gets warm response from customers

Barely two weeks after its launch, BlackBerry Z3 handsets have gone out of stock, according to retailers.

While this is good news for the company, the supply shortage also reflects the company’s failure in identifying the market requirements.

BlackBerry launched Z3 Smartphone at Rs 15990 in India in June

BlackBerry Z3-pic-4tgeThough BlackBerry did not share the exact number of pieces it sold, it is obvious that the company was uncertain of the market acceptance of the product following the failure of its earlier products, so it did not supply sufficient pieces in the market.

To attract the market, BlackBerry retailers are now offering easy installment options and discounts for Z3, which according to them, have caused the rise in demand for the smartphone.

Unlike other models, BlackBerry has launched Z3 at an attractive low price. Besides, retailers offered Rs 1000 off, while Flipkart offered vouchers worth Rs 1000 on pre-booking.

However, the performance of Z3 has not given a firm foundation to believe that BlackBerry is on its way to grab its market shares back. Analysts feel that company’s ability to regain its position will depend up on the upcoming models.

The device comes with 5-inch screen running Blackberry operating system 10.2.1. BlackBerry Z3 comes with additional features such as BlackBerry Maps, which provide 2D maps, local search and 3D voice guided turn-by-turn directions.

The smartphone also lets you share files in a smart manner. Touching “share” in any app provides suggestions on who and how to share your files based on who you’ve shared with in the past, and the feature only gets smarter the more you use it. The new BlackBerry Z3 includes a built-in FM radio as well.

Recent launches from BlackBerry did not receive good response from the market. In March, the company reduced the price of Z30 smartphone to Rs 34,990 from Rs 39,990 following sluggish response from customers.

NlackBerry slashed the price of BlackBerry Z10, the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone, several times and in February it was reduced to Rs 17,990.

BlackBerry is facing tough competition in India. The smartphone vendor does not feature in the top 5 list of smartphone vendors in India.
