BlackBerry to launch new consumer smartphone for emerging mobile markets next year

BlackBerry on Friday said it would launch a new consumer smartphone for emerging mobile markets including Indonesia.

The Canadian smartphone vendor will tie up with Foxconn, which supplies devices to companies such as Apple, to outsource manufacturing.

Foxconn will manufacture BlackBerry phones, which will be launched in Indonesia in early 2014, in its manufacturing facilities in Indonesia and Mexico.

BlackBerry will add other markets later.
