Apple has confirmed that its much awaited press meet will be on September 9 in California.
Apple will be targeting the holiday shopping season with the new devices. Last year’s iPhone 5s and 5c also debuted on the second Tuesday of September.
The company did not share any specific information.
“Wish we could say more,” said Apple in an e-mailed invitation today.
The venue will be the Flint Center for the Performing Arts near Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, a Bloomberg report said.
Earlier, several media speculated that Apple is set to introduce two new iPhone models: one with a 4.7-inch screen, and another with a 5.5-inch display, as well as a new wearable device, which would be the company’s first new product category since the iPad debuted in 2010.
Both Samsung and LG announced their smart watches this week. Both smart watches will be at display at IFA 2014 in Berlin. Microsoft is silent about its new product categories since it is still undergoing the transition after the $7.2 billion acquisition of Nokia phone business that also saw elimination of thousands of jobs.
Apple has used the Flint Center, which seats 2,300, for major events, such as co-founder Steve Jobs’s introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Jobs also unveiled the iMac at the theater in 1998. The venue also hosted an event earlier this year celebrating the Mac’s 30th anniversary.
Meanwhile, Apple has kicked off its new scheme to attract college students in the U.S. The company is offering $50 gift card for buying an Apple iPhone.
