Kobian’s mTAB Star tablet comes with MTK8377 chipset from MediaTek

Devices vendor Kobian on Wednesday said its mTAB Star tablet will come with the latest MTK8377 chipset from MediaTek.

The upgrade is aimed at enhancing customer experience. The new tablet offers 40 percent more performance.

Kobian’s mTAB Star tablet features dual 1GHz Cortex A9 application processor from ARM and PowerVR Series5 SGX GPU.

The upgraded tablet offers MediaTek’s 3G/HSPA/Edge modem, and runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. With the integration of MT8377 chipset, mTAB Star performance has boosted by up to 40 percent compared to single-core platform. The device comes with 8GB internal memory and 1GB of RAM.

MediaTek MT8377 chipset provides HD 1080p video playback, displays of up to HD720 (1280×720) resolution, built-in stereo 3D panel support and DTV-grade display picture quality and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM.

The new mTAB Star will be available by third week of December and comes with 1 year warranty.
