Panasonic has launched its new Android smartphone, P55. The device is priced at Rs 10,290 for the Indian customers and will come with a bundled screen guard and a flip cover.
The P55 sports a 5.5 inch HD IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels. It is powered by a quad core processor paired with 1GB RAM.
The smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. The new device is 7.9-mm thick with 13.9-cm.
The P55 boasts an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, and a 2MP front-facing camera. It has 4GB internal memory which can be further extended to 32GB via microSD card.
On the connectivity front, the P55 has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, and 3G.
The device is fueled by a 2500mAH battery, but the talk time and standby time is not mentioned by Panasonic.
The smartphone comes with a ‘Tap Play’ feature where the device has an in-built capability to recognise touch while in sleep mode, i.e. users can double tap to wake-up the phablet instead of reaching the power button every time.
The P55 also features ‘Gesture Play’, a gesture based feature to launch apps directly from home screen, ‘Pop-i Player’, which allows users to multi-task while playing videos and a music player called ‘Music café’.

Panasonic also launched the T40 quad core smartphone last month at a price of Rs 5,990.
The device sports a 4 inch IPS display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad core processor with 1GB RAM.
Panasonic T40 has a 5MP rear camera with Autofocus and is befriended with an LED flash with 8GB internal storage expandable to 32GB using a microSD card.
The device runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Panasonic’s intuitive Gesture Play+. The gesture based interface allows a user to quickly open apps directly from lock screen. It can be reverted to Android Launcher.
