Panasonic India is still struggling to make into the top five smartphone vendor list despite launching its latest phones.
Strong retail presence, marketing budget and slew of smartphones from Samsung, Micromax, Lava, Karbonn, etc. are making the life of Panasonic tougher in India. Panasonic, a relatively new phone brand in India, does not share its smartphone market share.
Priced at Rs 11,190, the new smartphone ELUGA S is the latest device for the Indian market from Panasonic.
The 5 inch ELUGA S with HD IPS display features the eye-definition BLINK PLAY that lets one click selfies or groupies with a 5MP Front Snapper. Lava International, one of the rivals of Panasonic, has also launched a 5MP front camera phone for Rs 7,699 to address demand for selfie devices. This indicates that Panasonic will score low in terms of its pricing.
When LG started unveiling Android Lollipop OS for G3 smartphones, both Lava International and Panasonic are still relying on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat / 4.4 KitKat operating system.
Panasonic ELUGA S smartphone features Octa Core (1.4GHz) processor. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB.
The dual SIM LAVA Iris Selfie 50 comes with a 1.2 Ghz Quad Core Processor and is powered by 1 GB RAM. It comes with 8 GB of internal storage that is expandable to 32 GB. For a better processor, you need to pay an extra Rs 3,500 for purchasing Panasonic ELUGA S smartphone.
The ELUGA S smartphone sports an 8MP FHD capable autofocus camera along with 2,100 mAh battery. On the other hand, LAVA Iris Selfie 50, which was unveiled this week in India, is powered by a 2,400 mAh battery. Lava’s selfie phone has a 8MP Auto-Focus BSI II back camera.
Panasonic said the stylish thin bezel on front coupled with leatherette skin on rear keeps the ELUGA S chic and compact.
Manish Sharma, managing director, Panasonic India, said: “This is the third phone is the ELUGA series which defines our willingness to embrace new technology in a market like India. As we launch new devices, we will continue to innovate for our customers.”
