Huawei on Monday announced its partnership with e-commerce website Flipkart for selling the Honor series of smartphones and tablets.
Huawei is the third largest smartphone vendor in the world, behind Samsung and Apple, according to IDC report for Q2 2014.
At a press conference in Delhi, Huawei has also announced four devices – two smartphones and two tablets – from the Honor series.
The four devices – in the middle price range – will assist Huawei to take on Samsung and Micromax, the #1 and #2 smartphone vendors in India.
The company selected Flipkart, the # e-commerce channel, to leverage the potential of the online market place. Huawei believes that young people, who are looking for Rs 9,000 to Rs 19,000 price range, are keen to buy from an online channel. Motorola became a success story in its re-entry thanks to the support of Flipkart.
Huawei’s Ascend range will continue to be available in retail stores and e-commerce channels. Tie up with Flipkart also means the company will be spending less on promotions.
This new range of smartphones will be sold exclusively through Flipkart portal with the Honor 6 smartphone going on sale starting October 6.
Through Flipkart, Huawei will launch Honor 6 and Honor Holly smartphones and Honor X1 and Honor T1 tablets.
Honor 6 is Huawei’s flagship product that features an Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 920 SoC Processor & 3GB RAM.
The phone supports LTE CAT6 and is 4G-future ready with Band 3 support which is expected to be available with Indian operators next year. Both Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel will launch 4G services on FD-LTE technology next year.
They feature a 5 inch in-cell FHD display and 445 PPI, the Honor 6 also offers features such as a 13 MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with 10-level auto face enhancement and 88° large viewing angle for panoramic selfies.
It is Huawei’s flagship smartphone. It claims to provide high end performance. The company has combined Kirin 920, with 3GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. It is priced at Rs 19,999.
Honor 6 is powered by an Octa core processor and consumes less energy. It is supported by Huawei’s 30 percent patented Power Saving Technology.
The device sports a 5 inch display with Aluminum Alloy Structure and diamond-style texture.
The smartphone packs a 13 MP Sony camera and a 5 MP front camera featuring Ultra- FastSnapshot (0.6 seconds fast capture shutter) with 10 level Auto Beauty level Enhancement.
It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and has Mali T628 MP4 GPU.
Honor 6 has Huawei’s patented Emotion UI 2.3 and magazine Lock Screen and supports high speed connectivity up to 42Mbps D/L 3G speed and has an option of to either connect to Wi-Fi directly or via hotspots.
The Honor T1 is a portable device which has an aluminum body combined with curved edges. It is priced at Rs 9,999 and would be available exclusively on Flipkart.
It boasts an 8 inch IPS screen with 72 percent screen to body to ratio. The T1 has a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor with 28nm leading multi-core CPU.
The device supports 2G/3G voice calling and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Huawei’s patented Emotion UI.
Honor T1 sports a 5 MP rear camera and comes with an 8GB ROM and 1GB RAM. It has a 4800mAh battery with Huawei’s 30 percent Power Saving Technology.
The device supports high speed connectivity with up to 42MbpsD/L speeds.
The company would be announcing the price of Honor Holly smartphone and Honor X1 tablet later. Both the devices will be available next month.
