Acer Iconia W4, an 8-inch tablet with Windows 8.1 and the 4th Generation Intel Atom processor, will be shipped in North America and Taiwan in October and Japan in November.
The Taiwanese devices company did not announce the price of the new tablet that features IPS and Zero Air Gap technologies providing better display, clarity and brightness. Based on the main specifications — revealed by Acer — you will not find any significant innovations with this new tablet.
Intel Atom processor supports battery life of up to 10 hours for web browsing and up to 8 hours for video playback, Acer said. Usually, tablet and device makers claim better battery life. But these are subject to several conditions. Users should check and verify battery life before taking their decisions to buy this new device.
Acer Iconia W4, which features Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013, is targeted at professional users. You can find these features at other tablets as well. These are not new features. But Acer says these are free with this tablet.
Zero Air Gap technology removes the air in between the touch panel and LCD module, reducing reflection and boosting readability even under sunlight.
The Iconia W4 specifications include 32GB or 64GB2 internal storage, and supports an additional 32GB2 of storage capacity via the microSD, 415 grams (0.91 pounds) and 10.75 mm (0.42 inches) thin.
