Essential smartphone might come to India as an Amazon Exclusive

Essential Phone by Andy Rubin might soon launch in India as per the reports.  The phone is expected to be an Amazon exclusive and could be priced at Rs 24,999.

The phone is likely to launch in late March or early April. The model is rumored to be the “Halo Gray” variant, which was launched recently in the US for $449 ( around Rs 29,000).

The smartphone comes with pre-installed Alexa-app. One of the highlights of the phone is its iPhone X-like notch on the top of the display. It has a 5.71-inch IPS LCD display (1312 x 2560 pixels) with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device features a IP54 certified water and dust resistant body.

The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. In terms of camera, handset sports 13MP dual rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), LDAF and LED flash. On the front, the device marks an 8MP sensor with the f/2.20 aperture hyperfocal lens.

The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with a planned upgrade to Android 8.1 Oreo OS. Furthermore, “Halo Gray” variant carries 3040 mAh battery with fast charging support. On the connectivity front, it features USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, and LTE.
