Vodafone brings the 2nd edition of the Vodafone appStar

Vodafone India has brought back its annual app developer contest, Vodafone appStar 2014. The company has deployed the Vodafone Service Delivery Platform (SDP) last year.

The SDP exposes company’s network APIs like carrier billing and location and many others.

Vodafone has now launched Vodafone appStar 2014 that provides a opportunity for brands, e-tailers, online players and developers who specialize in apps to build their apps.

The apps should be build using Vodafone Network APIs and includes categories such as Gaming, Utility, Health, Education and App for Good.

The developer of the best app will win cash prizes of Rs 50,000 in each category and an opportunity to visit the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.

The contest is open for all developers to build innovative apps across Android, Windows Phone, iOS, J2ME, BlackBerry platforms.

The appStar contest will be held at both Indian as-well-as  International level. The company aims to encourage apps across various verticals.

The winners from India will stand a chance to participate in in the International round that will be held in Banglore.

The contest has already received over 3000 developers registrations and over 1500 apps.
