TomTom unveils new map input tracker

TomTom has launched its new map input tracker API. It is map feedback tool that business customers can integrate into their existing products and services.

The API enables end-users to share map feedback through their smartphone, tablet, laptop or in-dash navigation unit to contribute to maps.

“This API enables TomTom to shorten the time between detecting changes in the real world and updating a customer’s map.” said Charles Cautley, managing director

TomTom has also launched a range of GPS sport watches in India.  The products are available through Flipkart.

TomTom Runner GPS Watch is priced at 12,999 INR, the TomTom Multi-Sport GPS at 15,499 INR.

TomTom Runner Cardio GPS Watch and the TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio Watch are priced at 20,999 INR and 23499 INR respectively.

The TomTom Runner and Multi-Sport GPS watches deliver real-time information such as time, distance, heart rate, pace, speed and calories burnt to runners, cyclists and swimmers.

The devices feature TomTom’s Graphical Training Partner, extra-large display and one-button control.

There are three graphical training modes: Race, Goal and Zone.

With One-Button Control, the device enables users to navigate up-down-left-right through menus to access key stats and watch features.

With indoor-tracker, the device allows users to accurately track indoor runs using built-in sensors to count strides, so that users can monitor pace and distance even while running on a treadmill.

The GPS sport watches are multi-platform compatible. They can sync, analyze and share stats on popular running sites and community platforms, including the TomTom MySports website, MapMyFitness, RunKeeper, TrainingPeaks and Strava.

The devices promise up to 8 hours battery life (GPS+HR), up to 10 (GPS only).

TomTom Runner Cardio also includes Heart Rate Zones to train in one of five intensity zones: Sprint, Speed, Endure, Fat-burn and Easy.
