Samsung has announced that the Samsung Gear S will be available in the U.S. market starting November 7. Samsung’s next-generation wearable extends the smartphone experience to users’ wrists through connectivity.
“A growing developer ecosystem will further expand the capabilities of the Gear S with fitness tracking services like Nike+ Running and on-wrist turn-by-turn navigation from HERE and more.” said Gregory Lee, president and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications.
The Gear S sports a 2 inch curved Super AMOLED and standalone carrier network connectivity, which allows consumers to stay connected, even when away from their phone.
Through the Gear S, the users can make a quick call, glance at information and notifications, and immediately take action right from their wrist.
The device allows users to view, receive, and reply to notifications from apps like email, messages, and social networks without using their phone.
Users can even speak or type emails, texts or posts from Gear S with both S Voice and a full QWERTY keyboard.
The Gear S has many sensors including accelerometer, UV sensor, barometer, heart rate monitor, GPS and an IP67 rating for dust- and water-resistance.
From the paired phone, the Gear S features turn-by-turn navigation provided by HERE. With S Health, Nike+ Running and a number of third party applications available through Samsung Gear Apps. Users can also listen to songs from the MILK Music.

The Gear S will be available in both White and Black colours. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless will carry the Gear S. The Gear S will also be available at Samsung Experience Shops in Best Buy.
