Misfit unveils Flash fitness and sleep monitor at $49.99

Misfit has announced its second wearable device, Misfit Flash. It is a fitness and sleep monitor. The smart wearable is priced at $49.99.

The device will be available from retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart beginning next month. Misfit’s previous offering was the Misfit Shine which was launched last year and priced at $100.

The Flash is designed to do two things, which is to track user’s fitness level and their sleep habits. The device does not sport a screen; users interact with the device through Misfit’s mobile app.

“Flash is the only fully featured activity and sleep tracker in the world for under $50, making it an incredible value,” said Tim Golnik, VP of Product and Design at Misfit.

The Bluetooth-connected plastic wearable syncs with user’s phone to track how many calories they have burned in a day, or how many steps they have taken, and how far they have walked, as well as how long and how well the user slept.

The Flash is made of sturdy soft-touch plastic and is waterproof down to 30 meters. Previously launched Misfit Shine was made of anodized aluminum and was waterproof down to 50 meters.

Both Misfit devices tell the time, using the 12-LED array to indicate the hour and the nearest 5-minute interval. Both run on watch batteries.

The entire front of Flash features a button to check progress toward daily activity goal and the time of day. Flash syncs wirelessly with the Misfit App on iOS and Android phones.

Flash was originally created in partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, Misfit’s long-term strategic partner, to encourage active lifestyles globally.

Misfit’s first product, Shine was launched in late 2013, and is now available in tens of thousands of retail locations in over 40 countries.

The Flash will ship in seven colors including a lemon-lime Zest, funky Fuchsia, and minimalist Frost.
