ASUS has launched its new voice calling tablet, Fonepad 7. The device will be first launched in Taiwan for a starting price around $250.
The device has been listed on company’s official website. The Fonepad 7 is a single-SIM tablet that features a 7-inch WXGA (1280×800 pixels) IPS LED-backlit display with up to 10-point multi-touch support.
The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3530 processor backed by 2GB of RAM.
The device features a 5MP autofocus rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera with 8GB or 16GB internal memory storage and 64GB external memory via microSD card.
On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, and Micro-USB.
The Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) is fuelled by a 15Whr battery that is rated to deliver up to 12 hours of battery life. The device measures 108.9×194.3×9.8mm and weighs 299 grams.
The 3G version of the device was price at Rs 8,999 in the Indian market. It supported the Android KitKat 4.4 OS unlike the new Fonepad 7.
The previous version was powered by a 2X2 Intel Atom Multi-Core processor 1.2 GHz with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology with 1 GB RAM.
The tablet came with 5GB of Asus WebStorage free for lifetime as well the Asus WebStorage Office suite of apps.
The tablet had a 7 inch display with 1024×600 pixel resolution which is lower compared to 1280 x 800 pixel resolution of the new tablet.
The camera quality is also upgraded with the new tablet, the previous version had a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera for video calling, while the new version has 5MP rear and 2MP front camera.
