Apple will delay the launch of the next-generation iPad mini tablet to next year, according to a report by Taiwanese publication Commercial Times.
In addition to the two iPad models, the report also talked about the much-speculated larger iPad, presumably called the “iPad Pro,” which is rumored to feature a 12.9-inch display.
According to Commercial Times, the iPad Pro is expected to go into production in the second quarter of 2015 and could be launched soon after that.

The report contradicts earlier rumours that said Apple will launch unveil this tablet alongside the next version of iPad Air in October this year.
For the past two years, both iPad versions were announced simultaneously.
Taiwan’s TechNews also recently claimed that the new iPad Air could get a memory upgrade, increasing its RAM to 2GB from 1GB. But, the second-generation Retina iPad mini is expected to continue featuring a 1GB RAM.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also said that Apple will not announce iPad mini and big-screen iPad this year. He had said at the time that Apple’s software team is concentrating resources on the software for the much-awaited smartwatch, which was launched parallel to the iPhone 6.
According to tech grapevine, the next-generation iPad mini will have the same screen size and resolution, but run on the new A8 processor and feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
