YU Televentures has announced the launch of the YU Yuphoria, the successor of the well-known YU Yureka. The announcement took place at a press event in New Delhi, India.
The phone, which was earlier code-named ‘Project Caesar’, got its unique name from a crowd-sourced campaign in which around 1,00,000 entries were recorded. Taking the ‘Make in India’ campaign forward, Rahul Sharma, Co-founder and CEO, YU Televentures plans to manufacture the YU Yuphoria in India.
Talking of the phone, it is aggressively priced at Rs 6,999 and sports a metal body unlike its predecessor. It comes with a 5-inch IPS display (720 x 1080) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it, it is 8.2mm thick and weighs 170 grams.
The YU Yuphoria runs on Cyanogen OS 12 on top of Android Lollipop and does come with themes and other customization options which were available on the Yureka too.
The phone is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU. The phone has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM (expandable). The interesting thing about this dual-SIM phone is that it supports 4G LTE too.
Talking of the camera part, the Yuphoria comes with an 8 MP back camera and a 5 MP front camera with 86-degree wide angle lens for better selfies. The phone is fuelled by a 2,230 mAh battery and it comes with a quick charge feature too.
The YU Yuphoria will be available in two color variants – White + Gold and Black + Silver. The registrations for the sale will start today at 5:00 pm exclusively on Amazon.in and you will be able to purchase the device through the infamous flash sale system starting on May 28.
Take note that the YU Yureka was priced at Rs 8,999 and its successor, the YU Yuphoria is priced at Rs 6,999. Can we call the new device an ‘upgrade’? What do you think?
