Micromax’s YU Televentures is set to launch its latest flagship device, the Yu Yunicorn. The device will be unveiled in a event on May 31 being held in New Delhi.
The teaser shared by Yu had hinted that the Yunicorn flagship may be priced aggressively. It is also expected to be available through online retailers only.
The company has also confirmed that the new flagship will run on company’s own Around Yu OS on top of Android. Around Yu was introduced last year with Yu Yutopia and is also expected to come with some new features.
“It’s insanely beautiful and it will break some hearts. It will break records, it will break the conventional, it will break the rules…WAIT, it will break the flagships.” said Rahul Sharma, founder of Yu.
According to previous leaks, the device will feature an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755M) processor that clocked at 1.8GHz, and come with 4GB of RAM.
The company’s previous offering was Yu Yutopia — priced at Rs 24,999 at the time of launch. Yu Yutopia is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.
