YU has announced the roll-out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 (CM12S) update on YUREKA. The update will be rolled out in phases to Yureka consumers over the course of next 3 days.
The new update will allow the users to prioritize application notifications and experience more personalised OS. The notification integrated with the lock screen are smarter, more intuitive and less intrusive.
The update comes with new features and design options to upgrade the YUREKA experience. Cyanogen OS 12 has extra themes, and ability to theme individual apps using the new feature called App Themer.
The update also brings the Cyanogen email, powered by Boxer. All Cyanogen users will get the premium version of Boxer for free.
Boxer has also included customization bells and whistles that lets the consumers select a different LED color for email notifications, and choose what happens when they swipe left or right on a message.
The new update will allow users to create guest profiles to control the usage and sharing of information on their device. The update comes with keyboard support for addition of Indian languages: Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
YUREKA is the first device from YU to be launched with Cyanogen OS and get exclusive OTA firmware updates and support in India.
The YU Yureka was launched in December 2014 at a price of Rs 8,999.
The device sports a 5.5 inch 720p HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 ghz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor paired with 2GB RAM. The device runs on Cyanogen OS.
The device has a 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It is fuelled by a 2500mAh li-polymer battery.
