Samsung has sold a record 1 million Tizen-powered Samsung Z1 smartphones since its launch in January 2015. Built on the Tizen platform, the Samsung Z1 delivers a faster boot time and enhanced web performance to offer users faster page loading times with decreased data usage.
The Samsung Z1 also features ‘Ultra Power Saving Mode’ to ensure users can use the device, even at minimal battery levels.
Samsung’s Z1, a dual SIM smartphone, is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB. It features four-inch display, 3.1 MP rear and a VGA front camera and 1,500 mAh battery.
Samsung developed Tizen with Huawei Technologies and Intel Corp to challenge the Android software that powers most of the world’s mobile devices.
Currently, only a few devices, including Samsung’s smartwatch products, televisions, cameras run on the Tizen platform.
A majority of Samsung’s mobile phones are Google Android-based, which is also the dominant OS on most smartphones across the globe.
