Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ launched in India at Rs 57,900

Samsung today launched its new Galaxy S6 Edge+ in the Indian market. The company has not launched the Galaxy Note 5 at the same event.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is priced the 32GB variant at Rs 57,900 for the Indian customers. The device will go on sale starting August 28, while pre-orders open from 19th August.

The new smartphone features a 5.7-inch QHD Super-Amoled display with 1440×2560 pixel resolution and 515ppi.

It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC with four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz, apart from 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM.\

The phone run Android 5.1 Lollipop with a new optimised version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI layer.

The phone is equipped with a 16MP rear shooter with f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery that supports fast charging with both wireless and wired chargers.

On the connectivity front, it offers WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, MIMO(2×2), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, ANT+, USB 2.0, NFC, GPS/GLONASS, and 4G LTE Cat.9 / LTE Cat.6 (differs by market) options. The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor and heart rate monitor.

It will be available in Silver Titanium and Gold Platinum colour variants. The company will also be providing 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage for free.

The devices also support the Samsung Pay and SlideSync. Samsung Pay is a payment solution with built-in fingerprint sensor for authentication and supports both NFC and older Magnetic type terminals.

SlideSync lets user to answer text messages and calls from PC or tablet in addition to offering syncing of multimedia content. The devices also have the ability to stream live video on YouTube through the native Camera app.

The company is also claims the presence of Samsung Knox Active Protection, and the My Knox app, on the Galaxy S6 Edge+.

The phone was launched last week alongside Galaxy Note 5 in an event in New York.

Both devices share same hardware properties, apart from the dual curved screen on the Galaxy S6 Edge+.

The Note5 features a new S-Pen stylus which fits into the phone with a new spring-loaded mechanism. The Air Command function is activated as soon as the S-Pen is out.

In the US, the Galaxy Note 5 will be available through AT&T at $739.99 for the 32GB variant, and $839.99 for the 64GB variant.
