Samsung announces its thinnest Galaxy Tab S2 tablet

Samsung has announced the U.S. launch of Galaxy Tab S2. The new tablet is touted as the thinnest and lightest tablet from the company.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is available for pre-order starting today and will be available at select U.S. retailers and carriers beginning September 3.

With a profile of just 5.6mm for both the 9.7-inch and 8.0-inch versions, the Galaxy Tab S2 is 16 percent thinner than its predecessor. It weighs in at a 9.4 oz.* (8.0-inch) and 13.8 oz.* (9.7-inch).

It has a Super AMOLED display and offers up to 32GB of standard memory—expandable up to 128GB.

The tablet is powered by an octa core processor and has a built in finger print sensor. The Galaxy Tab S2 comes equipped and preloaded with Microsoft Office Solutions for creating, editing, or sharing documents.

Other features include SlideSync which allows users to connect the Galaxy Tab S2 to a Samsung mobile phone or PC, and instantly turn the tablet into a centralized and intuitive command device.

Quick Connect allows to easily search for and connect to nearby compatible Samsung devices, from cameras to printers to friends’ devices.

It also allows users to stream content directly from a compatible Samsung TV, even when the TV is turned off.

It offers third-party app support so that conversations from various messaging apps can be pushed from a phone to the tablet.

The 9.7-inch tablet with 32GB is priced at $499.99 and 8.0-inch for $399.99. It will be available in Black, White and Gold.
