Nokia has launched a number of smartphones last year. Notably, the company had no smartphone in the high-end market before MWC 2018.
Top-end smartphone market is heavily dominated by Samsung and Apple. Meanwhile, the most expensive smartphone Nokia has in 2017 was Nokia 8 with price around $450 in the US.
This year at MWC, Barcelona, the tech giant has unveiled their flagship, Nokia 8 Sirocco to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 8, Apple iPhone 8, iPhone X and others. The flagship is priced at almost $1000 and marks cutting-edge technology.
In terms of specs and features, Nokia’s flagship looks an ultimate smartphone but it does lacks a number of areas compared to its rivals especially Galaxy S9.
Three areas Galaxy S9 has upper hand over Nokia 8 Sirocco:
Samsung’s flagship smartphone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which is a bit advanced of Sirocco’s 835 chip. However, S9 sports 4GB RAM, whereas Nokia 8 has 6GB RAM capacity.
In terms of camera, Nokia’s device marks 12MP+13MP dual rear sensors with ZEISS optics. On the other hand, Galaxy S9’s camera is perhaps the best among high-end smartphones. The dual rear camera of the S9 comes with Dual Aperture mode (f 2.4 to f 1.5) and bunch of features like –Super slow motion, just to name a few.

AR emoji feature of S9 is quite unique and a very different one from iPhone X. It makes user turn into an emoji, just by taking a selfie as it creates a 3D model of the face. Galaxy S9 is clearly a winner in these three areas but as S-series is older than Nokia’s 8, the results are not surprising. Overall, both devices are unique in their own way and offer great specs and features.
