Gionee has launched its Marathon M5 Plus at an event Dongguan, China. The device is the successor to previously launched Marathon M5.
The new smartphone will be available starting 25th December at a price CNY 2,499. Gionee is yet to announce the availability of the device for the Indian market.
The Highlight of the Marathon M5 Plus is its long lasting battery life. It is backed by a 5020mAh battery which is bit smaller compared to Marathon M5.
Gionee claims that the Marathon M5 Plus’ battery retains 90 percent (4500mAh) of its original capacity after 600 charging cycles. It also supports fast charging which can charge from zero to 100 percent in 117 minutes.
The new smartphone sports a 6 inch AMOLED display with 1080*1920 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 368 ppi.
It is powered by an octa core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. it runs on company’s own Amigo 3.1 OS wrapped under Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The phone is equipped with a 13MP rear camera with flash, while there is a 5MP front facing shooter also on board. It has 64Gb of internal storage capacity which is expandable up to 128GB using microSD card.
The device also features a fingerprint sensor on the home button. The company said that having the sensor at the front allows for much faster unlocking and claimed that the Marathon M5 Plus’ fingerprint sensor has a response time of 0.1s and fingerprint identification time of 0.38s.
Other features include Ami Clone which allows users to backup all data on their smartphone and when they restore, it also remembers minor details such as the arrangement of icons on the home screen.
The OS also comes with a child mode that lets users limit the apps children access and the time they are allowed to use these apps. This mode can be activated or deactivated via a password or the fingerprint sensor.
