Apple has previewed watchOS 2, software update for Apple Watch which allows developers to build faster and more powerful apps running natively on Apple Watch.
Developers can take advantage of hardware features of Apple Watch the Digital Crown, Taptic Engine and heart rate sensor, along with software APIs to build new app experiences.
Apple said watchOS 2 includes new watch faces, third-party app information as watch face complications and new communication capabilities in Mail, Friends and Digital Touch.
WatchKit gives access to key hardware like the Digital Crown, Taptic Engine, heart rate sensor, accelerometer and microphone.
Additionally, developers can also represent their data as complications on the watch face and new APIs enable audio and video playback and animation.
User can also turn favorite photo into a new watch face or view pictures from favorite photo album with every raise of wrist with the new Photo and Photo Album watch faces using watchOS 2.
Also, user can scroll with the Digital Crown to explore events in the future (and past) including upcoming meetings or activities, the temperature for the week, and information from third-party apps, such as upcoming flight information using a new Time Travel feature.
According to Apple, with Mail, user can respond quickly using dictation, Smart Replies or emoji while Digital Touch allows drawing and sending sketches with multiple colors on the same canvas, giving you more tools for creative sketches.
watchOS 2 also has Nightstand Mode, Activation Lock and support Transit in Maps.
watchOS 2 will be available as a free update to Apple Watch and requires iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 or later.
