Samsung Electronics is planning to launch the first smartphone from the company based on Tizen operating system (OS).
The revolutionary smartphone will be first introduced in Russia and India, according to local reports.
Tizen is an open-source operating system governed by a Technical Steering Group (TSG) composed of Samsung and Intel among others.
The platform’s SDK and API allow developers to use HTML5 and related web technologies to write applications that run across multiple device segments.
With its homegrown OS, Samsung is planning to compete directly in mobile software and services with Google and Apple.
Samsung is planning an event in Moscow in the coming weeks to introduce the smartphone, local reports said.
