Android KitKat is the name of the latest version of its Android mobile operating system, Google announced on Tuesday.
Google did not use the name Android Key Lime Pie as expected earlier. It chose a world famous confectionery brand instead.
There are celebrations around the name and launch of the version 4.4 of Google’s mobile operating system will be kicked off in India as well.
To celebrate Android KitKat brand, there will be more than 50 million Kit Kat bars in 19 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Middle East, Russia, and the United States. Get ready for the first bite.

Kit Kat brand and Google will offer consumers the chance to win 1,000 Nexus 7 tablets, 150,000 Google Play $5.00 credits and 20,000 coupons for a free 8 ounce bag of Kit Kat Minis.
To enter the promotion, consumers should look for a code inside the wrapper of specially marked Kit Kat 1.5 oz bars where they will need to visit android.com/kitkat for their chance to win. The promotion will run between September 6, 2013 and January 31, 2014.
The brand is launching a Kit Kat USA Facebook page and a Kit Kat USA Google+ page (google.com/+kitkatusa) to connect with Kit Kat U.S. fans and keep them up-to-date on the latest details of the Android KitKat campaign.
A giant statue of the Android made out of the iconic Kit Kat bars will reside at Hershey’s headquarters in Hershey, PA.
