Free call and messaging app Line Corporation has hired bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as its brand ambassador.
The messaging app is looking at increasing its user base in India to 20 million from the present 10 million.
The company achieved 10 million users.
As part of its marketing strategy, Line will be releasing free India-exclusive stickers featuring photographs of Katrina Kaif.
“It is only natural to anticipate further growth of the smartphone market in India, and we believe that it will become a vital territory as LINE expands into the global marketplace,” said Akira Morikawa, CEO of Line.
In addition to its partnership with Katrina, Line also partnered with Sony India, which will pre-install Line app on its smartphone Xperia Z1 and Xperia C.
Sony Music Entertainment is opening official accounts with LINE which will cater to fans of major genres of music including Bollywood, Indipop, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and International music, Line said on Saturday.
Line is also strengthening its presence among movie goers. In order to connect with a large audience and provide localized content Line is also partnering with major Bollywood films, such as Krrish3 and DHOOM:3, giving exclusive content to customers.
