Jolla smartphones will be available in India soon.
Jolla today it is now rapidly entering into new markets, and is negotiating with partners in several countries, including Russia, India and Hong Kong where Jolla will open online sales in the near future. Negotiations in several European countries are well on the way for Jolla to soon open new channels in main European markets.
The new smartphone vendor is taking the online route in India since it does not have a distribution network in the country. Recently, Motorola Mobility launched Moto G smartphones through Flipkart, an online commerce portal. This was the second entry of Motorola in India after it stopped selling phones in 2013.
Motorola said Moto G smartphone users will be getting services in 100 service center in India. It is not known what will be the strategy of Jolla in the country. India has around 850 million mobile subscribers and demand for smartphones is growing. One of the growth drivers in demand for mobile Internet.
Currently Jolla smartphones are available for orders online at the price of €399 (including VAT) to all European Union countries, Switzerland and Norway.
In Finland Jolla smartphones can be purchased also through local operator DNA’s shops, and sales is now expanding to all common retail channels.
Jolla is the Finnish smartphone and Sailfish OS developer.
The world’s first Jolla phones were sold to mobile operator DNA’s customers in Finland in late November last year.
Jolla said new features of the fourth software update will include improved performance, extended landscape support, lots of visual improvements, new camera functionalities, enhancements to the Jolla store, new general settings, and many more.
