IT vendor Intex Technologies is planning to launch its 4G smartphone in the first half of next year, said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, business head – Mobile, Intex Technologies.
Currently, Bharti Airtel is the only 4G service provider with services in cities such as Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Chandigarh.
Reliance Jio Infocomm is expected to unveil 4G on TD-LTE technology early next year.
Availability of cost effective 4G handsets will improve the uptake of LTE services across the country. 3G is experiencing rapid growth currently.
Earlier, Micromax said it would launch 4G phones in 2014.
Huawei launched its TD-LTE phone in India.
Intex Technologies, in association with chip vendor MediaTek, has unveiled the prototype of its Octa-Core smartphone. The price of the new phone will be around Rs 20,000. It will be unveiled in January.
