Indian phone vendors Micromax, Karbonn are not part of top 10 phone list, says Gartner

Samsung, Nokia, Apple, LG, ZTE, Huawei, TCL, Lenovo, Sony Mobile and Yulong are the top 10 phone vendors in the world in 2013, said Gartner.

Interestingly, Indian phone makers such as Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo, Lava, Spice, etc. are not in the top 10 list.

Worldwide mobile phone sales rose 3.5 percent to 1.8 billion units in 2013. Users bought 490.3 mobile phones in the fourth quarter of 2013, an increase of 3.9 percent compared with the same quarter in 2012.

Gartner said smartphones sales rose 42.3 percent to 968 million units in 2013. Smartphones accounted for 53.6 percent of overall mobile phone sales in 2013, and exceeded annual sales of feature phones for the first time.
