Apple is planning to launch the 8GB version of iPhone 5C in India in early June.
The new model was first launched in Europe and China a few weeks ago after Apple got lukewarm response for its earlier 16 GB model. .
The price of iPhone 5C is estimated to be around Rs 30,000, according to some of the local trade partners of the company.
Apple has decided to withdraw iPhone 4 from India after re-launching it in January. With the new launch the company hopes to increase its ASP by tapping the flourishing smartphone market in India.
In India, Apple’s smartphone sales declined 10-15 percent in April over the previous month due to a slowing market, according to industry reports.
According to CyberMedia Research, Apple’s volume share of the Indian smartphone market in the January-March 2014 quarter was 2.4 percent. Samsung continues to lead with a 38.9 percent share, followed by Micromax at 19.1 percent, Karbonn at 6.9 percent, Lava at 6.1 percent and Nokia at 5.3 percent.
