Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 6 with larger display in September. As the iPhone 6’s launch date is inching closer, the price of Apple’s flagship iPhone 5s is slashing.
Apple 5s 16 GB gold variant was launched at a price of Rs.53,000 in November, but presently trading at Rs.40,370 on the e-commerce website Fiplkart. There is no official confirmation on the discount from Apple.
It is possible that retailers are trying to clear out their inventory ahead of new iPhone 6 launch. Amazon.in is selling the phone for Rs.40,420 whereas infibeam has priced it at Rs.46,500.
Apple has also dropped prices of two of its models -the iPhone5c 8GB to Rs 27,320 from Rs 31,900 and the iPhone4 16GB to Rs 26,000 from Rs 31,800.

Apple may be offering record margins to retailers as iPhone 5s looks to hit 1 million mark in India by the end of September.
Apple has shipped 8.3 lakh iPhones to India in the first nine months of its fiscal year, which ends September 30, compared with 7.9 lakh in all of last year.
“There is huge pressure from Apple’s Cupertino headquarters on distributors to sell iPhones to trade and reach the 1 million sales mark in India,This unprecedented margin is offered to retailers who are ordering more than the usual, such as online sellers and large stores,” said a senior executive.
iPhone 6 32 GB is expected to be priced closed to Rs.52,000. In order to maintain the price gap iphone 5s can see more price cut. The price reduction will also boost the sales of older models.
The upcoming iPhone 6 is said to come with an A8 processor, an improved camera, Touch ID, larger display and iOS 8 as its operating system.
Rumors suggest that Apple may also launch a 5.5-inch iPhone this year, but it is uncertain if the two phones will launch at the same time.
Both upcoming iPhone 6 variants are rumoured to have a complete new design with upgraded communications hardware, thinner chassis, rounded edges and a relocated sleep/wake button.
The iPhone 6 is rumored to feature a Sapphire Glass protection, which can be considered as the most durable glass used for a smartphone.
The Fingerprint sensor of the TouchID is supposed to be more accurate than before.
Apple has not yet confirmed the launch of highly anticipated iPhone 6, but is most likely to showcase the device by the month of September.
