Apple iPhone 4 smartphone’s 8GB version will be relaunched in India for a price of around Rs 15,000 with buyback offer and EMI schemes.
The earlier retail price was Rs 26,500.
The new initiative is aimed at boosting Apple’s smartphone market share in India.
Apple, in fact, had discontinued the 8GB model of iPhone 4 smartphone to give way to Apple iPhone 5c. However, the iPhone 5c did not attract users despite its cheap price tag.
Interestingly, Apple iPhone 4 is a three year old model.
Apple iPhone 4S, 5, 5c and 5s were launched later.
According to a report in Times of India, since Apple stopped production of the iPhone 4 last August-September, the company is likely to source unsold inventory of the model from around the globe for the Indian market.
Apple’s smartphone market share in the India peaked to more than 4 percent in October-December 2012 and January-March 2013 before dwindling to 1.4 percent in October 2013, according to CMR data. Samsung’s share rose to 42 percent from 33 percent during the same period.
