Xiaomi has officially unveiled entry-level smartphones, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. The devices come with 18:9 aspect ratio display. In terms of design, both phones feature rounded corners and fingerprint sensors on the rear with micro USB on the bottom.

Redmi 5, 2GB + 16GB set for the price of CNY 799 (INR 7,900) and 3GB + 32GB at CNY 899 (INR 8,800). On the other hand, Redmi 5 Plus, 3GB + 32GB costs CNY 999 (INR 9,800) while 4GB + 64GB comes at the price of CNY 1299 (INR 12,700). Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are the successors of Redmi 4A and Redmi Note 4. The devices will be available for purchase from December 12 in China. The launch date in India is not confirmed.
The said devices will be available in Blue, Black, Gold and Pink colors. It is worth noting that the Xiaomi smartphones are one of the cheapest handsets with18:9 aspect ratio display.
Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display. Handset sports 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC processor. The phone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat based on MIUI 9. The device has 12MP primary camera coupled with 5MP snapper and 3300mAh battery.
Meanwhile, Redmi 5 Plus has 5.99-inch Full HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display. On the processor front, the device has 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC chip. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat based on MIUI 9. It marks 12MP primary and 5MP secondary camera. The device has 4000mAh battery.
