Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone offered at Rs 49,990 with free SmartBand and phone case

Sony has unveiled the new Xperia Z2, the 5.2-inch flagship smartphone from Sony for 2014, in India at MRP Rs 49,990.

The smartphone comes bundled with a SmartBand and a premium phone case, along with Accidental Damage protection for 6 months. Buyers will also get 2GB free data download on Vodafone for 2 months.

The smartphone will be available from May 12th, 2014 onwards at all key retail outlets across India. Three color options are available:  White, Black and Purple.

Z2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz and 3GB RAM. The 3,200 mAh battery supplies power for the entire day. The 8.2-mm thick phone is handy.

Sony Xperia Z2 offers entertainment through XSCAPE, an album by the internationally acclaimed music icon and King of Pop – Michael Jackson for free through the Sony Music Jive application.

Z2 strikes a stunning OmniBalance design, with glass panels encased in a single, solid aluminum frame with smoother edges. The 5.2” Full HD TRILUMINOS Display provides vivid viewing experience with Live Colour LED powered by X-Reality for mobile.

Sony Xperia Z2 incorporates Sony’s camera technologies “G Lens”, 20.7 MP “Exmor RS for mobile” CMOS image sensor and “BIONZ for mobile” image processing engine. The smartphone can capture video in 4K resolution with SteadyShot for stable videos.

Sony SmartBand SWR10, offered along with the phone for a limited period, lets you keep track of the movements, communication and entertainment of users. The Android app in the SmartBand keeps a record of your activities during the day.

Kenichiro Hibi, managing director, Sony India, stated the Xperia brand has helped Sony achieve a 10 percent share in the smartphones business. The new launch builds on this momentum and the company targets sales of Rs. 5,500 crore in FY14.

Sony also plans to launch over 30 new smartphones this year and expand the distribution network to reach 12,000 touch-points, including 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge Stores. The company has allocated Rs 350 crores as the marketing budget to execute a high-impact integrated marketing campaign that will enhance engagement of brand Xperia with customers in India.
