Smartphone maker Nokia has launched Nokia 114 with Urdu language capability in India. The dual SIM phone is priced at Rs 2,579.
This is the first ever device with Urdu language option in the country.
Kapil Sibal, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has handed over the first Nokia 114 with Urdu capabilities to film maker Muzaffar Ali.
Nokia is the first company to introduce regional language content in 11 Indian languages since 2008- Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Punjabi, and Marathi.
It is the first company to introduce an in house app called Akshar for the Asha Touch range of affordable smartphones. Akshar supports 11 Indian languages and allows consumers to interact in their local language.
The new initiative will benefit the over 15 crore Urdu speaking people in India, Nokia said on Thursday.
“Introducing Urdu keymat in Nokia 114 is yet another initiative to reach out to our consumer across the country,” said P Balaji, managing director, Nokia India.
Nokia 114 comes with Nokia Xpress browser. Its battery offer over 10 hours of talk time and nearly a month’s standby.
